CNC Machinist - Multi axis
Job Description
We are looking for a CNC machinist with experience on multi axis machining centres machines to join our team in the West Island of Montreal. The candidate is responsible to interpret engineer and customer produced set-up sheets and requirements to determine set-up procedures, machining sequences and dimensions in order to produce high-quality aerospace components and assemblies.The CNC machinist will set-up and operate a Mori Seiki NT series computer numerical control (CNC) machine to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to within customer specified tolerances.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex set-ups using supplied set-up instructions and related documentation;
- Set up, adjust and operate CNC machines to perform precision machining operations;
- Interpret drawings, sketches and blueprints to determine appropriate machining processes;
- Monitor the feed and speed of CNC machines during the machining process;
- Enter commands to retrieve, input or edit CNC programs;
- Measure, examine and test completed components to ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments;
- Observe and pay attention to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools;
- Change cutting tools and location of workpiece during machining process as specified in set-up instructions;
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers;
- Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machine;
- Ensure compliance to computerized software requirements and application of standards at all levels;
- Actively participate in continuous improvement and Total Quality Management (TQM) activities;
Job qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience in CNC multi axis machining ;
- Experience with CNC multi axis machining centres Mori Seiki is an asset;
- Experience with complex machined components in the aerospace industry is an asset;
- Vocational diploma as a Machinist or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent is also considered;
- Ability to communicate in both English and French (Oral/Written).
