First Piece Inspector- CMM
Job Description
Under the responsibility of the head of the quality department, the first-piece inspector will be responsible for the inspection and approval of first-machined parts before the start of production.
Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections and approvals of all initial production parts manufactured by CNC operators and machinists.
- Perform final inspections of complex parts to ensure full compliance with technical and quality specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments, including verniers and micrometers, to verify dimensions against engineering drawings and operational documentation.
- Ensure that all part dimensions meet specifications outlined in Engineering Drawings, Manufacturing Process Sheets (MPS), and As-Per-Set-Up (APS) documentation.
- Operate CMM Mitutoyo and Zeiss to perform detailed dimensional analysis.
- Investigate and analyze root causes of non-conformities, collaborating with production teams to identify corrective actions.
- Document and process Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs) in accordance with internal quality management procedures.
Job qualifications
- Technical diploma in machining techniques or any combination of technical training and relevant experience;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, particularly in operating CMMs (Mitutoyo & Zeiss);
- Knowledge in CMM programming is an asset;
- Knowledge of geometric tolerances (GD&T);
- Bilingual (French and English) is an asset (Ability to read and interpret English work instructions);
- Availability to work on day shift (7:15am-3:15pm)
