Mid-Senior Financial Analyst (Maternity leave replacement)
Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Mid-Senior Accountant to temporarily manage our accounting operations during a 12-month maternity leave period. The selected candidate will perform critical financial functions and maintain stringent accuracy in financial reporting, directly reporting to upper management.
Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger, inventory accounting systems, and prepare detailed financial reports including month-end and year-end close.
- Oversee all aspects of the year-end audit, ensuring compliance with audit requirements, with direct reporting on progress to upper management.
- Conduct monthly analytical reviews of operating results to gauge the financial health of the company.
- Undertake detailed analysis to detect discrepancies in costing, identify trends, and suggest areas for cost reduction and profitability enhancement.
- Collaborate with operational teams to address financial discrepancies and improve financial procedures.
- Generate and review KPI reports for executive assessment, highlighting key financial insights.
- Ensure all tax filings and regulatory requirements are met punctually, including GST, QST, and income tax submissions.
- Lead the accounting team effectively, ensuring continued productivity and adherence to standards during the transition period.
Job qualifications
- Minimum 2 to 5 years’ in finance or accounting roles, with supervisory experience
- Post secondary degree in business, accounting or finance; CPA designation (Asset)
- Understanding of foreign exchange mechanism and implications on the results;
- Competency in MS office (Very good knowledge of Excel, Vlookup tables …)
- Competency with databases and ERP systems
- Competency in supervising an accounting team
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Bilingual (French/English)
