Engineer – Automation & Robotics

Job Description

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, the automation and robotics engineer will be responsible for promoting a culture of continuous improvement throughout the company. He/She provides a set of specialized services: technology watch, studies, design, mapping and digitization of processes, integration of new technologies and management of continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

 
  • Work in collaboration with management team to determine business improvement projects according to the short-term and long-term strategic plan;
  • Ensure the realization of various technical projects by determining work plans, methodologies and timelines;
  • Manage work-outs to establish better manufacturing and control practices;
  • Maintain a technological watch for the needs of the company;
  • Assess opportunities for digitizing and automating the company's internal operations;
  • Apply and support the introduction of change in the company
  • Design and carry out various studies (technical, feasibility, etc.);
  • Coordinate the implementation, monitor and follow-up on projects with stakeholders;
  • Establish, modify, implement and monitor work methods, procedures, standards, rules and design criteria;
  • Develop plans and specifications, procedures books and write reports;
  • Provide technical support and act as an expert advisor;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the industry, products, standards and technologies emerging in his specialty;
  • Implement processes such as 5S, kanban, Poka Yoke, 5whys, etc.

Job qualifications

Demonstrated experience in business process improvement (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement) ;
Knowledge of best practices in process optimization ;
Professional knowledge in MS Office;
Knowledge of ERP systems:
Mastery of computer-aided design and drafting software;
Effective organizational and project leadership skills ;
Excellent communication and presentation skills ;
Bilingual (English and French - spoken and written).

Experience required:               Proven work experience of at least 2 to 3 years in a similar position; Experience in aerospace manufacturing (an asset).
Education level:           Relevant training in Industrial Engineering , Mechanical engineering , Mechatronics/Robotics
